About the indicator

Annual carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion and industrial processes (cement production above all), in million tonnes. These are production-based emissions: they are attributed to the country where the fuel was burned, regardless of who consumed the goods produced. The estimates come from the Global Carbon Project, and the series begins in 1750.

Important: Does not include emissions from land-use change and deforestation — those are covered by a separate indicator.
